Why Another Workshop?
Have you ever noticed how many workshops focus on the boring stuff? The grammar, the spelling, the punctuation? Well, I have, and that's when it hit me: writing is actually about so much more than the technical stuff. It's about the you and the me and our own unique viewpoint. My workshops are about celebrating you, the you that goes into every chapter, every phrase, every word that you write.
HEALING
Creative writing isn't just about making money or becoming famous. No. There is so much more to it than that.
It could be the sharing of emotions that you otherwise keep private.
It could be the release of pain that they have wrestled with for years.
It could be the letting go of things that have held the writer back and crippled their development.
Writing can represent so many deeply personal things. But letting them out is the starting point for healing.
FREEDOM
Writing is the ultimate expression of freedom. No matter who or what tries to confine and control a person, putting words on paper sets them free.
Words are like wings. They can give ideas and thoughts the power to travel over any distance, over any obstacle.
No man-made device can kill an idea. Transforming an idea into words gives it life, and life is precious. People protect life, defend life, gife life a chance.
ESCAPE
Armed with a pen and paper, every prisoner can escape. They can move at will from this place to any place they care to imagine.
Your mind has only the limits that you dare to put around it. If you choose to have no limits, then the whole world is yours for the taking.
Not all of us are actually in a prison, per se, but many of us are captive to our circumstances. Let's escape together.
WORKSHOPS
My workshops are all about the parts of us that we put into everything we write.
The stuff that schools can't teach because it's not in the curriculum. The stuff that only writers actually know about, but don't usually get to explore together.
